THE MAASAI

Land
The Maasai warrior believes that land cannot be owned and can only be used. This is because land is a part of God and everything alive is part of god too. This means that there is no separating human life from God and the four basic elements of life, which are water, fire, earth and air, which have also been given freely for all to use.

Land is what has been feeding the cattle and it is an insult for anyone to say that he owns it and they're by denying others the right to life. The warrior believes that life is a thread that we journey and every thing that comes along the way is an experience and an initiation to make the next step. The Maasai warrior believes that the body is made up of water, earth, air and fire.

The mountains, hills and rivers
The mountains bring down water to feed their children and cattle, which is the responsibility that has been bestowed on the Maasai warrior. Take care of life and let life take care of you. On the mountains and hills reside the Gods of rain and water.

Fire.
Fire has been burning ever since and every one of them is different from the previous. After the fire there is calm and new vegetation for the cattle. The fire feeds the warrior and gives him the spirit to move on.

Animals.
The Maasai warrior is not any important or above the rest of animals, he is part of the animals and will always strive to live harmoniously with them culturing respect and not fear. He desists from the branding of animals as wild as he views man as the most wild of the animals on earth.

Culture.
Your culture is you and changing it means that you are not having any roots to stand on which makes you a slave to another culture. Being you is the basis of development. The Maasai warrior respects the self and that is the warrior.

Respect is the paramount message and motto of the Maasai warrior and everything else falls in place. As a nomad freedom has always been with us, but now that freedom is restricted to those who can produce more money (imaginary valued paper) we struggle to feed our herds and children. When land was fenced and owned then the abuse of life become inevitable.

It all stated with land ownership, which makes sure that the river that flows in a privately owned land also belongs to the owner. We've started seeing the privatization of water institutions, air is owned by virtue of where one can afford to live. We cannot make fire as we want it is owned and sold. If you cannot afford to have money then you are doomed and do not deserve to be alive. Take care of money and money will take care of you as being the ideology of the 'modern' society.
