CULTURES & LANGUAGES
As linguists predict in the next 45-60 years, half of the world's 6000 languages will be dead, for no children speak them.
The loss of these languages means loss of songs, ceremonies and myths carried by them the knowledge they carry will also be lost to us.
The first people (indigenous) are always the guardians of diversity and preserving a wide diversity of natural species is essential for future food security.
Bio-diversity holds the promise (future) that new and old (important)medicines can still be discovered and is essential for the maintenance of our eco-system.
We are therefore stressing the need to recognize and empower the indigenous and traditional people, whose lives already depend on sophisticated and successful sustainable practices that conserve biological diversity.
