About the Maasai Warrior
Maasai in maa, the language spoken by the plain nilotic Maasai tribe,
means the maa speakers.In the luo tribe another nilotic tribe inhabiting the
lake and rive of luo, Maa sai means to plead with.
We combine both these and use them as the main agendas of this mission to
the world. It seeks to plead with the outside world to understand that not only
one way leads to happiness and freedom. The beauty of our world lies in the
diversity of our cultures and traditions and it is only through freedom to
unite that we can eventually talk of peace.
Miyere ole Miyandazi, born in Nakuru district elburgon
where his father was a teacher in the only school that was meant to accommodate
the children of the workers in the vast ranch of Jomo Kenyatta.
He had his so called formal studies in both Nakuru and Nairobi. He
attended TRPS for his primary education before being admitted to Eastleigh high school for his
secondary education, one of the schools that could not allow Africans during
the colonial days. It is here that his mission for rights would start. For his
tertiary life education he attended Kenyatta University and
later Maseno University. He embarked on the social justice activism after the killing
of his father in 1994, which turned the whole life of his family and the many
projects that were seen to be a threat to the grabbing of land powers.3 of his
close activist friends together with many more social crusaders have lost their
lives in the line of duty and to them Muruli, Ondhu and Omosh I say:
“Every general increase of freedom is accompanied by some degeneracy,
attributable to the same causes as those of freedom. Humanity remains to be the
goal.” He has always been operating behind the scenes for fear of the same
befalling him, organized and participated in many demonstrations, the last one
in august 2004 after the Anglo maasai lease of 99yrs came to an end leading to
his journey to south of Africa.
The main purpose of Miyere´s journey was to bring to the world attention the
massacre (ethnic cleansing) of the minority tribes in Africa and Hoping that this
would apply to other minority people all over the world. The killing is so
complicated that the perpetrators do it without a flinch, knowing that they
control the media which is a tool that the rest of the world depends on. All
the resources are dispensed at their will. Here is an example of the
complexity of the issue.
A Maasai just like all of the living inhabitants of this universe depend on
land for his livelihood, the processes and expenses needed to secure a land
ownership title deed is so involving and expensive for the ordinary native
Maasai. His lifestyle and environment adopts him to keep moving from one part
to another in search of greener pasture, just like the other animals that are
found within the savannah and remain to be Nomadic in nature. So once again his
primitiveness is augured in the court, and ignorance being no defence, he
looses his grazing land for What they call DEVELOPMENT .The next step is to
wait for his desperate state, when his cattle are dying of starvation, due to
over grazing in the small plots left for them, and dictate the price (cost) of
his cattle, in exchange for an imaginary paper in the holy name of money. This
KILL’S HIS FAITH and forces him to leave for the city(town), with no value for
life anymore, dangling not knowing what is left to live for in a society that
he doe’s not have the necessary arms to compete in. He becomes the
punching bag of abuse as he is used for cheap labour, inmost cases watchmen
(night guards and prostitution), exposing them to all the dangers
unarmed.
Alcoholism, drugs and Aids take its toll on them through their cultural practices
WITHOUT THE CATTLE, NO LAND TO GRAZE, NO FAITH, and NO JOBS.
Why should they be alive, when they have failed to safe guard what they were
given to take care of? How will they face the owner of the cattle? The creator,
Enkai, GOD.
From the Judgement by The judge, the arresting officer & prosecutor are
real foreign to his cultural practices and traditional beliefs. The accused and
the jury are you and me and there I rest my case.
The psychological awakening is now imminent. Social justice in our societies
should be guaranteed, Weather to the majority or minority.
The smallest
minority is you and I.
